Fergnson, a consid erable property owner here returned from Graham, where ho had been in search of his daughter, Lillian. IS years old, who mysteriously disap peared from her home here Monday. Mr. Ferguson found his (laughter iu a boarding house in Graham, where board had been engaged for her by Wm, Creel, a barber here; who dis appeared from his place of business, his wife and three children the same day of Miss Ferguson's disappearance. On Monday, as was her custom, Miss Ferguson? went out to collect the weekly rents due her father on dwell ings owned by him in tha clly. Among these tenantsi was Creel. He and the girl had been known to be acquainted, but nothing was thought of It. Mon day night as she had not returned home, and Inquiries revealed the fact that Creel had also disappeared from his home, a search was begun, result ing in the two being located in Gra ham. Mr. Ferguson failed to find Creel in Graham, but officers are on the look out for him, on a charge of abandon ment and non-support of his family. Hearing of the destitute condition of his deserted- family, the local bar bers union sent several representa tives to them 'yesterday. A plentiful supply of provisions and other neces saries were furnished to them by the union. Mrs. Creel is said to have some well to do relatives in Raleigh. RICHMOND GETS IT. Battle Jias been invited to preach the commencement sermon for the State Normal of Virginia and to deliver the address for Limestone Col lege. South Carolina. ' ' Dr. Battle returned from the South ern Baptist Convention at Chattanoo ga last ntght, where he and Mi. Iee H., Battle did their best to bring the next session of the convention to this city in obedience to instructions from their church and their city. . He re ports a-most interesting and inspiring session of that great body. WANTS PENSION INCREASE. Wealthy Chewing Gum Man Makes Application for Raise of $4 Per Month. CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 17. Poor old "Doc" Beeman can't work with hie hands. Since March 15 he has been trying to have his pension raised from $8 to $12 a month because of "total incapacity for manual labor." The chapel was ciowded with visitors, who had come to witness the Anal triumph of these 31 bright boys and girls, who had labored king to achieve the honor of today. Very attractive looked the rostrum, decorated in the class colors, yellow and black, and Its bevy of pretty girls and intelligent boys. Mr. Htrwy Wilson, as president of the class, presided with all necessary dignity.
